Mark Catton

Group CEO

Mark joined the team in January 2018, hired by private equity owner Cabot Square Capital to accelerate the investment in the platform, and scale it’s reach in providing finance to UK SMEs.

Mark is the former CEO of RBS Corporate Banking, and enjoyed leadership roles in Barclays in the UK and Europe, and Non Executive Director of Direct Line Group Plc at the time of its IPO. Mark has 30 years’ experience in financial services, mostly in corporate and SME finance, helping to build and grow successful businesses

Over 30 years’ experience in the financial services sector building and managing business operations in large, well-respected national and global businesses. Latterly at GE Capital where she successfully held senior UK and Europe leadership roles; and is a certified GE Quality Leader. Catrin Nation

Head of Legal

Joined Propel as Head of Legal in January 2019 to form Propel’s first in-house legal function. Holds responsibility for ensuring all Propel’s products and services comply with both the letter and spirit of their legal obligations. Has over 15 years’ experience as a legal advisor, having worked both in private practice and in-house. Works in partnership with all Propel teams, and believes the best legal advice comes from knowing a business “inside and out”. 

 

 
 
 
 

Clive Gavin

Chief Credit Officer

Joined Propel in September 2022. Previously worked at RBS between 2007-2015, building & leading the first-line Credit team of 350 people and was responsible for £80bn of credit limits. Has also undertaken senior interim risk roles at Shawbrook & Aldermore, before spending 4 years at Hampshire Trust Bank as Chief Risk Officer, and more recently Interim Chief Risk Officer at Cynergy Bank. In in all these roles, Clive has been instrumental in building teams & capabilities and making a brilliant contribution to the wider business at Propel.
